Banglalink signed an agreement with Starlink Mobile on Wednesday to integrate Direct to Cell (D2C) satellite connectivity in Bangladesh. VEON said the service will extend connectivity in remote areas by combining Starlink Mobile’s satellite network with Banglalink’s terrestrial coverage.
VEON identified Banglalink as the operating company for the agreement and said the integration will focus on remote parts of Bangladesh. Direct to Cell (D2C) is a satellite-to-phone service that connects mobile devices directly through satellites rather than only through ground-based cell sites.
The agreement adds satellite-based mobile coverage to a Bangladesh operator at a time when operators and satellite companies are testing hybrid terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks. The source did not provide launch timing, supported devices, pricing, or eSIM technical details such as eUICC (embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card) support or Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP), the system used to download and manage eSIM profiles over the air.
