Reliance Jio sets India business RCS rates for Apple iPhone users

Reliance Jio introduced new pricing for business rich communication services (RCS) messaging in India following its partnership with Apple to extend RCS support to iOS users from the start of September, according to an ETTelecom report published on September 9, 2026. The move marks Apple's entry into India's business messaging market alongside Google.

Brands can now send application-to-person messages, including marketing, transactional and one-time password messages, to iPhone users on Jio's network. Until now, RCS on iPhones was limited to person-to-person communication.

Jio said the new rates took effect on September 1. The operator also introduced separate pricing categories for marketing, transactional and OTP traffic. The report said the change amounts to a 10% to nearly 300% increase depending on message category.

Apple is also enabling business RCS in the US, UK, Germany, France and Spain with local telecom operators. In India, the report said Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel are also expected to join the Apple RCS ecosystem. Jio had more than 533.3 million subscribers at the time of publication.
