Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and 4 Gen 5 target mid-range phones

Qualcomm Technologies introduced the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 for mid-range and entry-level Android smartphones, according to a Mobile World Live report published on May 7, 2026. Qualcomm said both platforms include Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI, a feature set designed to reduce latency and improve interface smoothness in daily use.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 delivers app launches that are 20% faster and reduces screen stutter by 18% compared with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4. Qualcomm said the chip uses four performance cores at up to 2.6GHz and four efficiency cores at up to 2GHz, and supports FHD+ displays up to 144Hz, cameras up to 200MP, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6.0. Qualcomm also said the platform adds AI night vision and uses Qualcomm Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0, with a GPU that is 21% more powerful than the previous generation.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 uses two performance cores at up to 2.4GHz and six efficiency cores at up to 2GHz. Qualcomm said it supports FHD+ displays up to 144Hz, cameras up to 108MP, 5G sub-6 GHz, and Wi-Fi 5, and that its GPU improves by 77% over the previous generation. Qualcomm also said the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 is the first in the Snapdragon 4 series to support 90 FPS gaming and includes Dual SIM Dual Active connectivity, which allows simultaneous use of 5G and 4G networks on both SIM cards. Qualcomm said upcoming Honor and Redmi devices will use the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, while Oppo, Realme, and Redmi devices will debut with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5.
