Google Keep tests Markdown export in Android app
TL;DR
- Google Keep for Android is testing an "Export to Markdown" feature.
- Android Authority found the feature as a debug option, which suggests early-stage testing.
- The feature would help users move notes to Markdown-compatible apps, but it does not add native Markdown editing inside Google Keep.
Google Keep for Android is testing an "Export to Markdown" feature, according to an Android Authority APK teardown published in July 2025.
Android Authority reported that the feature appears as a debug option in the Android app. The report says this indicates the feature is still in early testing and is not yet a standard user-facing option.
Markdown is a plain-text markup language that uses characters such as # for headings, * for bold, and _ for italics. Android Authority said the new export option would make it easier to move Google Keep notes to apps that support Markdown.
The reported feature concerns exporting notes, not editing them. Android Authority said Google Keep for Android still does not offer native Markdown editing support inside the app.
