What IoT Decision Makers Should be Asking about eSIM
The GSMA has introduced SGP.32, a new global standard for Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP) built specifically for IoT devices. It is meant to change how connected products are deployed, updated and managed at scale, replacing older approaches that were designed around smartphones rather than machines.
For IoT decision makers, the core questions now are straightforward: how will SGP.32 affect device design, how easily can they switch or add mobile operators over the air, and what this means for long-term support and costs across large fleets of devices. Any adoption plan needs to look at interoperability with existing systems, the maturity of vendor implementations, and how SGP.32 can reduce on-site visits and physical SIM handling over the device’s full lifecycle.
