Orange names Usman Javaid as AI chief from 1 September

Orange said Usman Javaid will succeed Steve Jarrett as its AI chief on 1 September. Javaid is currently chief product and marketing officer of Orange Business, and the company said he will take responsibility for delivering its AI revenue and value targets.
Orange said its AI strategy aims to derive more than €600 million in value from AI by 2028. The company also said it is expanding internal use of AI, and that implementing agentic iterations will be a key part of Javaid’s remit.
Orange credited Steve Jarrett with laying the foundations of its AI work and establishing the company’s credentials in the field. Orange also said Javaid began his career with the company in 2005 and later held roles at Vodafone Group and AWS across cloud, IoT and network strategy.
