Nokia targets AI-RAN launch in 2027 and 100% spectral gain in 2028

Nokia said its AI-RAN platform will use software-driven upgrades to improve radio access network performance. According to the report, Nokia said the platform will combine Nvidia acceleration with flexible deployment options.

Nokia said the platform promises to more than double spectrum efficiency, and the company set a target of 100% spectral gain in 2028. Spectrum efficiency measures how much data a network can carry within a given amount of radio spectrum. The report said Nokia is preparing the platform for launch in 2027.

RCR Wireless News reported that analysts questioned how quickly operators will adopt AI-RAN. According to the report, analysts said the technology may be used first to optimize existing mobile networks rather than drive immediate large-scale operator purchases.
