Netherlands, South Korea deepen chip, quantum ties
South Korea and the Netherlands have agreed to step up cooperation on semiconductors and quantum computing as global trade tensions and supply chain shifts reshape the tech industry. According to Yonhap News Agency, the two governments signed a letter of intent at a joint innovation committee meeting in The Hague, aiming to improve their international competitiveness while responding to changes in global supply chains.
South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources said the plan builds on more than 40 joint R&D projects since 2016, and could mark the start of another decade of collaboration. Specific projects were not disclosed. The move follows a separate agreement in November 2025, when the two countries committed to develop a joint strategy on digital issues such as cybersecurity and the responsible military use of AI.
