Kigen powers Crout and Melita 2CoreSIM for Critical IoT

Crout and Melita are using Kigen eSIM technology to support Critical IoT connectivity in Europe through the 2CoreSIM service developed by Crout and Telefónica Deutschland. The service uses Kigen IoT eSIMs certified to the GSMA eSA scheme for SGP.32 IoT eSIMs and is managed through Kigen's GSMA SAS-certified hosted eIM solution.
2CoreSIM hosts two independent operator profiles on a single eUICC. One profile uses Telefónica Deutschland and the second uses Melita. If the primary connection becomes unavailable or no longer meets the required quality, the eSIM can autonomously activate the second profile and rebuild the data connection over the other network infrastructure.
The switching logic runs locally on the device through the IoT Profile Assistant, or IPAe, embedded in the eSIM. Kigen said this removes the need for extra applications or manual profile reconfiguration. The company said its eSIMs support deployment lifecycles of 10 to 20 years and operating temperatures from -40°C to +105°C.
Crout and Melita began using Kigen's eIM when it achieved GSMA SAS certification in 2025. Telefónica Deutschland provides one network profile and said its mobile network has more than 29,000 sites. Melita provides the second profile on separate infrastructure. The companies said the setup is aimed at use cases including cold-chain monitoring, healthcare data transmission, alarm systems, video surveillance, cash-in-transit, and flood or wildfire warning systems.
