Kenya’s Capital Markets Authority (CMA) has licensed Safaricom and Airtel Money Kenya as intermediary service platform providers (ISPPs), allowing them to connect users to regulated investment products.
With this approval, the two mobile money operators can offer access to capital markets services through their platforms, working with licensed market intermediaries. The move is part of the CMA’s push to widen participation in investments by using channels that many Kenyans already rely on for daily financial transactions.
