Safaricom’s M-Pesa Ethiopia has rolled out a new mobile money platform called M-Pesa LeHulum that works with any SIM card, regardless of mobile network. The move opens M-Pesa access to users across all operators in Ethiopia, instead of limiting the service to Safaricom subscribers.
By making the wallet network-agnostic, M-Pesa Ethiopia aims to broaden its customer base and position the service as a general payments tool rather than a product tied to one carrier.
