GSMA and TM Forum outline telco AI collaboration

Source: gsma.comJune 24, 2026

TL;DR
GSMA and TM Forum said they are working together to reduce fragmentation and speed practical artificial intelligence adoption in telecoms. The announcement was described by GSMA's Louis Powell and TM Forum's Andy Tiller in a GSMA Newsroom article titled Scaling Telco AI from Ambition to Reality.

GSMA and TM Forum said they have started a collaboration focused on practical artificial intelligence deployment in the telecoms industry. The groups said the aim is to reduce fragmentation across the sector and help operators, vendors, and other ecosystem participants move from AI planning to implementation.

The GSMA article said artificial intelligence is now a board-level priority across telecoms. It said operators are investing, vendors are developing products, and the wider telecoms ecosystem is moving quickly, but structural barriers still make AI deployment more complex in telecoms than in many other industries.

The GSMA article said telecoms is a difficult environment for AI adoption because networks are complex. The piece was attributed to GSMA's Louis Powell and TM Forum's Andy Tiller, and presented the new GSMA-TM Forum collaboration as a response to industry fragmentation and the need for more practical deployment.
