Freshwave and VMO2 add four 4G/5G small cells in Canterbury

Freshwave and VMO2 deployed four 4G- and 5G-compatible small cells in busy areas of Canterbury city centre in the UK. The deployment extends the companies' ongoing small cell work and is intended to improve mobile coverage for VMO2 users in the city.

The Canterbury deployment is being carried out in collaboration with Kent County Council. David Wimble, cabinet member for Economic Development and Special Projects at the council, said the authority is supporting the rollout by providing access to suitable council assets.

Freshwave said the small cell equipment used in Canterbury is designed to be discreet, with lower visual impact in the historic city centre. The company said the agreement is one of more than 40 it has signed with local authorities across the UK.

Freshwave previously deployed small cells for VMO2 in Guildford. The company is also involved in a large-scale rollout in Glasgow.
