Apple says Siri AI launch in EU is delayed by DMA

Source: 9to5mac.comJune 9, 2026

Apple said on June 8, 2026, that Siri AI will not be available at launch in the European Union because of the Digital Markets Act (DMA).

TL;DR

  • Apple said Siri AI will miss its launch window in the European Union.
  • Apple linked the delay to the European Union's Digital Markets Act.
  • Greg Joswiak discussed the decision with 9to5Mac on June 9, 2026.

Apple announced on June 8, 2026, that Siri AI will not launch on time in European Union countries for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27. Apple said the delay is due to the Digital Markets Act, the European Union law that sets rules for large digital platforms.

On June 9, 2026, 9to5Mac published comments from Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, about the delay. The publication's headline quoted Joswiak describing the situation as the “most serious negative outcome yet” of the DMA.

The source material does not give a revised launch date for Siri AI in the European Union. The report identifies the affected market as the EU and the affected software platforms as iOS 27 and iPadOS 27.
