AMD plans up to $5B for Anthropic tied to 2GW AI capacity
AMD said it plans to invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic as part of a deal to add 2 gigawatts of computing capacity to Anthropic’s platform, with deployment of the first 1GW set to begin in the first half of 2027.

AMD and Anthropic said they signed the agreement to address rising demand for artificial intelligence training and inference capacity. Anthropic said it is expanding compute infrastructure to support demand for its Claude model and will acquire AMD’s latest AI server chips as part of the arrangement.
AMD said deployment of the first 1 gigawatt of its Helios platform will begin in the first half of 2027. The companies did not give a timeline for completing the full 2 gigawatts of capacity.
AMD and Anthropic also said they are starting a multiyear engineering collaboration to speed AMD software deployment with Claude. Anthropic said it will adopt the model across its engineering and product development teams. AMD said its planned investment of up to $5 billion in Anthropic will depend on meeting certain milestones.
