Amazon commits additional $13B to India AI and cloud by 2030

Source: mobileworldlive.comJune 25, 2026

Amazon said it will invest an additional $13 billion in India by 2030 to expand artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure, including Amazon Web Services data centre capacity in Mumbai and Hyderabad.

TL;DR

  • Amazon plans an additional $13 billion investment in India by 2030 for AI and cloud infrastructure.
  • The new commitment takes Amazon’s planned AI and cloud infrastructure investment in India to more than $21 billion between 2026 and 2030.
  • Amazon said the funds will expand AWS data centre capacity in Mumbai and Hyderabad.

Amazon announced the new investment after CEO Andy Jassy met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The company said the additional $13 billion is earmarked for Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon’s cloud computing unit, and follows a $35 billion investment announcement made six months earlier.

Amazon said its total planned AI and cloud infrastructure investment in India will exceed $21 billion between 2026 and 2030. The company added that its cumulative investment in India from 2010 to 2030 now stands at more than $88 billion, with $48 billion committed across the next five years.

Amazon said the new funding will increase AWS data centre capacity in Mumbai and Hyderabad and provide startups, enterprises and government organisations with access to Trainium chips, Amazon Bedrock, managed AI services and developer tools. The company said hundreds of thousands of Indian enterprises, startups and government agencies already use AWS, including the National Health Authority, Government e-Marketplace, Apollo Tyres, Delhivery, Physics Wallah, Axis Bank and HDFC Bank.
