YouTube expands in-app messaging test to 40 countries

YouTube announced that it expanded its in-app messaging and video sharing feature to nine additional countries, including the United States. The company said the expansion brings the total number of supported countries to 40.
YouTube had started testing direct messaging in certain countries last year. A few months before this expansion, YouTube had increased availability to 31 countries, but the United States was not included at that stage.
YouTube said users aged 18 or older who are logged into a YouTube channel can send and receive messages inside the app. The feature also supports unsending messages, blocking users, reporting conversations, and sharing videos in-app.
