Wise launched customizable travel eSIM plans for Canadian customers on October 6, 2026. The plans cover more than 150 destinations, and travellers can choose their data allowance and trip duration in select markets.

Wise said customers can buy the eSIM through its app, install it once, and use it across multiple trips. Data usage starts when the eSIM connects to a supported network at the destination, and Wise said customers can receive refunds for purchased plans they do not use.

Wise also added domestic QR payment networks in its app, including Singapore's PayNow, Malaysia's DuitNow, Brazil's Pix, and Thailand's PromptPay. Wise said a separate Alipay+ partnership extends QR payments to more than 50 destinations, but that feature is not available to Wise customers in Canada or the United States.

A Wise-commissioned YouGov survey of more than 14,000 travellers across 11 countries found that 62% of recent international travellers relied on accommodation Wi-Fi abroad, while 43% reported cash-management challenges.
