Verizon wins NAD challenge over T-Mobile ad complaint
- The National Advertising Division ruled in Verizon's favor in a complaint brought by T-Mobile over Verizon marketing claims.
- Android Authority reported the ruling after T-Mobile had previously faced NAD challenges from AT&T and Verizon in 2024.
- The NAD found Verizon's promotions did not cross the same lines alleged in earlier complaints against T-Mobile.
The National Advertising Division ruled in Verizon's favor in a complaint brought by T-Mobile over Verizon's marketing practices, according to Android Authority's report published in June 2024. The ruling followed earlier National Advertising Division challenges in which AT&T and Verizon disputed T-Mobile advertising claims last year.
Android Authority reported that T-Mobile filed counter-complaints after the National Advertising Division had previously sided with AT&T and Verizon on many issues related to T-Mobile promotions. The report said the National Advertising Division does not directly enforce its rulings, but T-Mobile had already made some changes to its marketing strategy in response to the earlier case.
The case concerns US mobile operators Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T rather than eSIM-specific products or standards. It shows how carrier marketing disputes continue to be reviewed by the National Advertising Division, even when the outcome does not directly affect eSIM, eUICC (embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card), or Remote SIM Provisioning standards such as SGP.22 or SGP.32.
