Telefonica Deutschland and Crout launch 2CoreSIM for IoT
Telefonica Deutschland and IoT specialist Crout launched 2CoreSIM, a dual-profile IoT SIM that can switch between eSIM profiles when primary connectivity fails.
TL;DR
- Telefonica Deutschland and Crout launched 2CoreSIM for IoT connectivity resilience.
- The SIM combines Telefonica Deutschland's network profile with the international roaming footprint of Maltese operator Melita.
- Target sectors include logistics, healthcare, manufacturing, and security.
Telefonica Deutschland said 2CoreSIM is designed for organisations running digital applications and systems that need stable connectivity during network disruptions, fluctuating coverage, or technical failures. The company said the product switches between eSIM profiles directly in IoT devices when the primary connection fails.
The second profile paired with Telefonica Deutschland's network is provided through the international roaming footprint of Melita, a mobile network operator (MNO) in Malta and the parent company of Crout. Telefonica Deutschland said Crout also contributes IoT expertise and customer relationships to the partnership.
Telefonica Deutschland identified logistics, healthcare, manufacturing, and security as target sectors for 2CoreSIM. The companies said the product is intended for use cases such as goods tracking, medical data transmission, security systems, backup systems, and early warning systems where connectivity outages can disrupt operations.
