T-Mobile launches Live Translation beta for calls in 80+ languages

T-Mobile said on May 21, 2026 that its network-based Live Translation beta is live for selected participants. T-Mobile CTO John Saw announced the beta in a company blog post, after the carrier first announced the feature in February 2026.
T-Mobile said the service translates calls in real time across more than 80 languages. T-Mobile processes the translation in its network instead of on the handset, and the company said users can start the feature by dialing *87*.
T-Mobile said only one caller needs to be on the T-Mobile network for Live Translation to work. The company said the beta is free during the beta period and should work with virtually any phone on its network, including smartphones and flip phones, without extra hardware or software.
