The companies said 5G SA roaming can provide faster speeds, lower latency, and more reliable connections for services including IoT, real-time communications, and immersive applications.

The operators used Syniverse’s connectivity platform to interconnect their networks. Syniverse said its platform supports secure interworking and advanced mediation for next-generation roaming.

Ankur Kapoor, chief network officer at T-Mobile, said the company began preparing for a 5G standalone future in 2020. Mark Yarkosky, head of international network, partnership and services at Jio, said the work between the two operators could support new consumer, enterprise, and AI-enabled cross-network services based on 5G standalone.
