Sparkle and Entel Bolivia signed a memorandum of understanding at the ITW 2026 telecommunications event to jointly commercialize the Bio-Oceanic Digital Corridor, a terrestrial route connecting the Pacific and Atlantic coasts through Bolivia. The agreement covers a direct route across Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil as an alternative to existing submarine and indirect international paths for regional traffic.
The companies said the corridor spans about 4,370 kilometers and connects Lima and São Paulo with latency below 60 milliseconds. They compared this with more than 120 milliseconds on traditional submarine routes that exceed 12,000 kilometers. The route is intended to support traffic from gaming companies, internet service providers, OTT platforms, digital service providers, and data centers.
Entel Bolivia will contribute a terrestrial backbone with more than 44,000 kilometers of fiber connecting Lurín in Peru with Puerto Quijarro in Bolivia and other international interconnection points. Sparkle will manage the Brazilian segment from Puerto Quijarro to São Paulo. The partners said the corridor is designed to scale to 60 Tbps, and that they will coordinate sales, operations, and maintenance under a commercial model that will let customers buy capacity from either company.
