Orange Business acquires Obvios Dome private 5G platform

Orange Business acquired the cloud-native private 5G platform Dome from domestic company Obvios. Orange Business said the acquisition expands its sovereign private 5G systems and adds Dome to the portfolio of its Defense and Security division.

Dome targets operators of critical infrastructure and organisations in defence and public safety. Orange Business said the platform is designed for use in sectors including defence, domestic security, energy, transport, and emergency services.

Orange Business said Dome provides high-bandwidth, low-latency edge compute capabilities. The company said it expects the platform to support use cases including drones, autonomous systems, connectivity for military bases, and field operations.

Nassima Auvray, head of Orange Business' Defense and Security unit, said the acquisition strengthens the company's portfolio and expertise, particularly in hybrid network deployments. Orange Business linked the deal to its Trust the Future strategy unveiled earlier this year.
