OpenAI raises $122B at $852B valuation

OpenAI closed a $122 billion funding round in April 2025, lifting its valuation to $852 billion. The company said it will use the capital to expand compute, research and enterprise deployment.
Amazon, Nvidia and SoftBank Group led the round and, according to Bloomberg, contributed $110 billion combined. Bloomberg reported Amazon invested $50 billion, while Nvidia and SoftBank Group each invested $30 billion; other backers included MGX, D.E. Shaw Ventures and TPG, and OpenAI said a limited pool of individual investors contributed about $3 billion.
OpenAI said it generates $2 billion in monthly revenue, with enterprise contributing more than 40 per cent of total sales and expected to reach 50 per cent by year-end. The company also said ChatGPT has more than 900 million weekly active users and API usage exceeds 15 billion tokens per minute; it plans to direct a large share of the new capital to compute capacity and cited partnerships with Microsoft, Oracle, AWS and Nvidia, while also outlining a unified AI app combining ChatGPT, Codex and its AI web browser after shutting down Sora the previous week.
