Nvidia gave 10,000 India staff stock grants worth up to ₹1 crore

Nvidia gave about 10,000 employees in India a one-time stock grant in 2024, with individual payouts worth up to ₹1 crore, according to an ET Telecom report. The report said the grants highlight how stock-based compensation is being used to retain staff in India.

The ET Telecom report cited a document showing that one employee's total unvested equity stood at 156 RSUs, or restricted stock units, valued at more than ₹1.2 crore as of April last year. The same report said the special stock grant applied to around 10,000 Nvidia employees in India.

The development reflects broader competition for skilled workers in semiconductor and AI-related roles, where equity awards are a common retention tool. Nvidia is a major chip designer, but the report did not state further details on grant structure, vesting terms, or whether similar awards were issued outside India.
