MasOrange and Terranova target Spain gas meter rules in June

MasOrange and Terranova partnered in May 2026 to offer Spanish gas suppliers smart metering systems that combine hardware, NB-IoT connectivity, and data management.

MasOrange, a Spanish operator, said the joint offer is designed to simplify digitisation for gas suppliers before new Spanish gas meter rules take effect in June 2026. According to the source, the rules require regular digital readings and the use of modern back-end platforms.

The connectivity layer of the offer uses NB-IoT, a low-power wide-area cellular technology for Internet of Things connections. MasOrange said the gas meters were tested in its laboratory to confirm network compatibility and compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.

The end-to-end system combines approved gas meters, IoT connectivity, and Terranova's data management platform. Terranova's platform collects data from the meters and analyses it, while MasOrange said the combined system is intended to support operational efficiency, network security, and regulatory compliance.
