Liberty Global appoints Stephen van Rooyen to lead Ziggo Group
TL;DR: Liberty Global appointed VodafoneZiggo CEO Stephen van Rooyen to lead Ziggo Group from 1 September. Ziggo Group will combine VodafoneZiggo in the Netherlands and Telenet in Belgium, ahead of a planned Amsterdam listing in 2027. Liberty Global also appointed Sunrise CFO Jany Fruytier as CFO of the new company.
Liberty Global appointed Stephen van Rooyen to lead Ziggo Group from 1 September. Ziggo Group is Liberty Global's newly formed telecoms company that will combine VodafoneZiggo in the Netherlands with Telenet in Belgium, ahead of a planned listing in Amsterdam in 2027.
Stephen van Rooyen is the current CEO of VodafoneZiggo and will keep that role alongside his new responsibilities at Ziggo Group. Liberty Global said he previously spent more than 17 years at Sky, where he served as CEO of Sky UK & Ireland and chief commercial officer of Sky Group.
Liberty Global also appointed Jany Fruytier as CFO of Ziggo Group. Fruytier joined from Swiss operator Sunrise, where he has served as CFO since 2020. Liberty Global said Ziggo Group will own 100% of VodafoneZiggo and Telenet after its earlier deal to buy the 50% stake in VodafoneZiggo it did not already own from Vodafone Group, while Vodafone took a 10% stake in Ziggo Group. Liberty Global said the combined company will have 13 million customers and generate €6.6 billion in revenue.
