Kontron Transportation wins Orient/East-Med rail comms contracts

Kontron Transportation said it has been awarded several contracts for the Orient/East-Med Corridor, with special relevance to Romania. The company said it is working with Hitachi Rail Romania on the project.

The Orient/East-Med Corridor is 6,480 kilometres long, including the Connecting Europe Facility 2 extension. The route crosses eight countries: Germany, Czechia, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece.

Kontron Transportation said it will provide a complete railway communication solution to support operations along the line. The project is planned to run for 48 months.

Kontron Transportation, which is headquartered in Austria and is part of Kontron, said its rail communications portfolio includes GSM-R, FRMCS, mission-critical over public networks with interworking functions, private 4G/5G mobile networks, transmission networks and cybersecurity solutions.
