Jieyuan Energy trials private 5G and AI at Taiwan geothermal plant
Jieyuan Energy is trialling private 5G and artificial intelligence systems with Taiwan Mobile at the Sihuangziping pilot geothermal power plant in New Taipei City, Taiwan.

The demonstration systems are installed at the Sihuangziping pilot power plant in New Taipei City, Taiwan. Jieyuan Energy said the trial covers data integration, security systems, environmental monitoring, inspections, remote maintenance and control platforms.
Jieyuan Energy and Taiwan Mobile said AI-aided smart security systems and patrol robots could increase the number of completed inspections to 95%. The partners also said issue recognition accuracy is expected to reach 90%.
Jieyuan Energy said AI for energy optimisation analysis and intelligent water misting is predicted to stabilise cooling system equipment and improve power generation efficiency by more than 5%. General manager Hong Xiangmin said geothermal plants are often located in mountainous areas, making a dedicated private 5G network necessary to monitor temperature, pressure, flow rate, power generation and equipment alerts. Xu Shengkai, CTO of parent company Jiangjie Group, said labour shortages and the remote location of facilities are driving the use of smart technologies.
