EchoStar added 16,000 Boost Mobile subscribers in Q1
TL;DR: EchoStar added 16,000 Boost Mobile wireless subscribers in the quarter ended 31 March, down from 150,000 a year earlier. The company ended the quarter with 7.5 million wireless subscribers, churn of 2.7%, and wireless revenue of $962.5 million. EchoStar added 16,000 Boost Mobile wireless subscribers in the quarter ended 31 March. That compared with 150,000 net additions in the same quarter a year earlier. EchoStar combines prepaid and post-paid subscribers under the Boost Mobile brand, and it ended the quarter with 7.5 million wireless subscribers. Mobile customer churn improved to 2.7% from 2.8%.
EchoStar reported wireless revenue of $962.5 million in the quarter, compared with $969.7 million a year earlier. Total net revenue was $3.6 billion, down from $3.8 billion. Net loss attributable to EchoStar narrowed to $146.9 million from $202.7 million.
EchoStar said last year it transitioned to a hybrid MNO (mobile network operator), operating its own 5G core network while serving wireless customers primarily over AT&T's network. The company previously agreed a $23 billion deal to sell its 3.45GHz and 600MHz spectrum licences to AT&T. It also said it agreed in November 2025 to sell unpaired AWS-3 licences for about $2.6 billion in SpaceX stock, building on a $17 billion agreement the companies entered into in September. Capital expenditure fell to $133.4 million from $378.5 million, and EchoStar ended the quarter with $1.3 billion in cash and cash equivalents after redeeming and repurchasing about $1.7 billion of debt.
