BT added 514,000 FTTP connections in fiscal Q1 2027

Source: mobileworldlive.comJuly 23, 2026

BT Group added 514,000 fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) connections in the opening quarter of fiscal 2027, taking its total to 23.4 million by the end of June.

TL;DR
  • BT said FTTP was the main driver of broadband revenue in fiscal Q1 2027.
  • BT added 514,000 FTTP connections in the quarter, reaching 23.4 million total.
  • EE said its 5G network coverage reached 77% of the UK population.
  • BT reported flat revenue of £4.3 billion and pre-tax profit of £505 million for continuing operations, down from £526 million a year earlier.

BT Group said fibre was the main generator of broadband revenue in the quarter to end-June, with record levels of connections and uptake across its Openreach and consumer businesses. The company said it was seeing record demand for fibre services during the period.

BT said EE maintained its mobile position during the quarter and noted that EE received a consumer award for reliability, coverage and performance. BT also said EE's 5G network coverage reached 77% of the UK population by the end of the period.

BT reported revenue of £4.3 billion for fiscal Q1 2027, unchanged year on year, while pre-tax profit for continuing operations fell to £505 million from £526 million in fiscal Q1 2026. CEO Allison Kirkby said higher finance costs affected profit and said BT remained on track for its targets, including cashflow of about £2 billion. BT also said its Business division was stabilising service revenue on sales order growth from major customers and referenced its recently formed joint venture with Verizon.
