Bharti Airtel restored its ₹299 prepaid plan in India on November 7, 2026, after higher subscriber churn followed the operator’s earlier tariff changes. The prepaid pack has 28-day validity and returns Airtel to the ₹299 price point that rivals Reliance Jio Infocomm and Vodafone Idea Limited continued to offer.
The relaunched Airtel ₹299 plan includes 1 GB of data per day, 100 SMS per day, unlimited calls, and a 12-month Adobe Express Premium subscription. Before Airtel withdrew the plan, the ₹299 pack offered 1.5 GB of data per day, so the restored version returns at the same price with lower daily data.
Brokerage notes cited by ETTelecom said Airtel’s net subscriber additions fell to 0.7 million in Q2 FY27 from 3.3 million in the previous quarter, while churn rose to 2.9% from 2.6%. Citi Research and JM Financial linked the higher churn to Airtel’s August 2026 plan rationalisation, which removed the ₹299 entry-level prepaid smartphone plan.
Airtel had withdrawn five prepaid plans priced at ₹299, ₹319, ₹579, ₹619, and ₹649, all of which offered 1.5 GB of data daily with unlimited calling. Subscribers on the former ₹299 plan had been pushed to the ₹349 pack, which represented a price increase of about 16%.
