Source: fierce-network.comMay 15, 2026

TL;DR: AT&T is building open-access fiber networks through Gigapower and Forge Fiber, according to a Fierce Network report. The report cites an OSS/BSS executive who said open access network expansion is being driven by Tier 1 operators including AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.

AT&T is building open-access broadband networks through Gigapower and Forge Fiber, according to a report published by Fierce Network. The report identifies AT&T as one of the large US operators expanding activity in open-access network models.

Fierce Network reported that an executive from an OSS/BSS company said open access is "expanding like wildfire currently" and is being driven by Tier 1 operators. The executive specifically named AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.

Open-access networks are broadband networks where multiple service providers can use the same underlying infrastructure to sell services to end users. The Fierce Network report links AT&T's activity in this model to Gigapower and Forge Fiber.
