Source: Total TelecomMarch 23, 2026
TL;DR:
  • Telefónica Tech announced partnerships with Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, QCentroid, and Multiverse Computing in March 2026.
  • The company said the alliances expand its quantum computing and AI offer for enterprise customers in Spain and the wider EU.
  • Telefónica Tech's broader quantum strategy also includes work with IBM, IQM, LuxQuanta, and Wayra across computing, post-quantum cryptography, and quantum communications.

Telefónica Tech announced partnerships with Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, QCentroid, and Multiverse Computing in March 2026. The company said the three alliances expand its quantum ecosystem for enterprise use cases at the intersection of quantum computing and artificial intelligence in Spain and the wider EU.

Telefónica Tech said Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech will contribute quantum hardware and algorithm expertise, QCentroid will provide orchestration platforms for testing and scaling workloads across multiple hardware providers, and Multiverse Computing will add tensor-based software and quantum-inspired algorithms for financial and industrial simulations. Telefónica Tech said the combined offer will give enterprises unified access to cloud-based quantum hardware, simulators, and algorithm libraries so they can validate use cases in weeks rather than months, with target sectors including banking, logistics, and energy.

Telefónica Tech said the new partnerships build on an existing quantum ecosystem that includes IBM and IQM. The company said its wider strategy has three pillars: quantum computing, including deployment of one of Spain's first quantum computers with IQM; post-quantum cryptography, or PQC, with IBM to protect infrastructure against future quantum decryption risks; and quantum communications, including investment in LuxQuanta through Wayra for quantum key distribution, or QKD. Telefónica Tech said it is positioning this ecosystem as a European option for customers that need local data protection and security compliance.
