T-Mobile disables automated switching app for AT&T customers
T-Mobile has shut down the automated version of its Easy Switch tool for AT&T customers after a legal challenge, halting a feature that let users move their phone numbers with minimal manual work. The step-back follows AT&T’s pushback over the tool and comes as Verizon also raises concerns, arguing Easy Switch could expose customer data to unnecessary privacy risks.
T-Mobile can still process switches, but without the automated app the process becomes slower and more hands-on for people leaving AT&T. The dispute highlights how carriers are fighting not just over price and coverage, but also over who controls the terms and technology of customer churn.
