Looking ahead: Indian telecom in 2026
India’s telecom industry is steering into 2026 with a tight focus on new revenue and infrastructure rather than headline-grabbing launches. Operators are betting on satellite communication to extend coverage beyond traditional mobile networks, especially into remote areas. Fixed wireless access (FWA) is set to grow as a way to deliver home and enterprise broadband without laying fiber everywhere, helping carriers squeeze more return from 5G investments.
At the same time, companies are pushing to raise average revenue per user (ARPU) through pricing discipline, bundled services and digital add-ons instead of chasing sheer subscriber volume. Investment is shifting toward core digital infrastructure – data centers, cloud platforms and network modernization – to support heavier data use and new services. Together, these moves show an industry trying to move from low-margin connectivity to more stable, higher-value business lines by 2026.
