How Charter and Comcast are building their way out of Verizon dependency

Charter and Comcast are slowly cutting their reliance on Verizon by building more of their own wireless networks. Instead of rushing into nationwide builds, they are adding targeted coverage with small cells and using shared CBRS spectrum where it makes financial sense.
This selective approach lets the cable companies shift traffic off Verizon’s wholesale network onto infrastructure they control. Over time, that could reduce what they pay Verizon, give them more control over service quality, and reshape how cable operators compete in the mobile market.
