FWA product is improving, but AT&T still 'fiber first' – Stankey
AT&T is slowly expanding its Internet Air fixed wireless access (FWA) service but is keeping it in a supporting role. CEO John Stankey said the company is focused on the quality and economics of FWA, not chasing subscriber volume at any cost.
Stankey described fiber as the center of AT&T’s long-term broadband strategy, calling it "fundamental and foundational" to the business. FWA is positioned as a complementary option, used where fiber buildout is limited or uneconomical, rather than a replacement for wired broadband.
