India's telecom subscriber base jumps 7.86 million in January
India added 7.86 million telecom subscribers in January, lifting the total base to 1.314 billion, according to data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Most of the growth came from wireless users, which rose by 7.57 million to 1.266 billion.
Wireline connections also inched up, adding 0.29 million subscribers to reach 47.66 million. The figures underline how mobile services continue to dominate India’s telecom market, while fixed-line growth remains limited.
