Fibre, FWA and satellite set for growth in largest broadband markets through 2030 - Point Topic
Broadband research firm Point Topic expects fixed broadband connections to keep rising in the world’s biggest markets through 2030, driven mainly by fibre, fixed wireless access (FWA) and satellite. In its latest forecast, the company says these three technologies will take a growing share of connections as older copper-based services decline.
According to Point Topic, operators and governments are steering investment into fibre roll-outs, 5G-based FWA and new satellite constellations to extend coverage and increase speeds. The shift is strongest in large, high-population markets, where upgrading legacy networks and reaching underserved areas offers the biggest gains in subscriber numbers and revenue. Overall, the firm expects the broadband base to grow, but with a clear move away from traditional fixed-line technologies toward these newer access options.
