Ericsson and Nokia push to keep US‑Europe tech ties intact
Ericsson and Nokia have joined a new industry grouping called the Trusted Tech Alliance, aimed at shoring up transatlantic cooperation in telecoms amid growing political strain between the US and Europe. The alliance notably excludes Chinese vendors and focuses on positioning its members as reliable partners for future 5G and network investments, at a time when Western governments continue to reassess security risks and supply chains.
Behind the scenes, the effort looks less like a technical initiative and more like a political signal. By emphasizing “trusted” suppliers and a unified front, Ericsson and Nokia are trying to prevent a deeper policy split between Washington and Brussels that could reshape telecom markets, standards decisions, and who gets picked for major infrastructure contracts.
