BT CTO says Ericsson and Nokia 'raised game' to replace Huawei
Source: lightreadingMarch 19, 2026
BT says it has finished taking Huawei equipment out of its 5G radio access network and is now relying on Ericsson and Nokia. According to BT CTO Greg McCall, both vendors "raised their game" to meet BT’s technical and performance demands during the swap-out.
McCall says the removal program pushed up capital spending, but BT is now past the peak of that investment. With the new gear in place, he describes BT’s mobile network as delivering world-class service, while also implying that future spending on 5G radio access will level off after the Huawei replacement work.
