Vodafone Idea may get decade-long relief as AGR dues face review
Vodafone Idea could get 10 years of breathing room on its adjusted gross revenue (AGR) payments, with officials indicating the government is willing to stretch out the repayment window to support the stressed telecom operator.
The company previously asked the Supreme Court for time until FY41 to clear its AGR dues. Now, a government review of Vodafone Idea’s AGR liability, currently assessed at about ₹87,000 crore, may cut that amount roughly in half, according to people familiar with the matter. One official said the extended timeline is meant to give the operator space to stabilise its finances and continue operations while the reassessment and repayment plan take shape.
