Vodafone Business strikes energy infrastructure deal
Vodafone Business has signed a four-year deal with Centrica, the owner of British Gas and Hive, to overhaul the energy group’s IT and connectivity across the UK. Working with Vodafone Intelligent Solutions (VOIS) and IT consultancy CGI, the operator will provide workplace services and network links for 80 Centrica sites and about 30,000 devices. The package includes fixed and mobile connectivity, Office 365 and cloud support, Power Apps, and backing for Centrica’s ServiceNow-based service desk.
Centrica plans to move away from traditional managed services and lean more on data, generative AI and machine learning to increase productivity and tailor services for staff and customers. The agreement will also let Vodafone, British Gas and Hive launch joint connectivity-and-energy offers aimed at UK households. Alongside the technology work, Vodafone will support Centrica’s efforts to address fuel poverty through the British Gas Energy Trust.
