Vodacom Tanzania launches M-Pesa tap-to-pay in Africa first
Vodacom Tanzania has introduced what it says is Africa’s first contactless payment feature built directly into a mobile money service, adding tap-to-pay to its M-Pesa app.
Developed with Visa and Paymentology, the upgrade lets M-Pesa users pay by tapping their phones at compatible payment terminals, instead of using cash or physical cards. Vodacom positions the move as a step to make everyday payments faster and more convenient for its mobile money customers in Tanzania.
