Kyocera exits 5G basestation business

Kyocera is shutting down its 5G basestation business, pulling out of a market where it could not make the numbers work. The Japanese supplier says high development costs and its already weak profits left little room to keep funding the unit.
The exit underlines how tough the 5G infrastructure market has become, especially for smaller vendors competing against large, established players. Kyocera will now focus on other parts of its portfolio where it sees a clearer path to profit.
