Hyper-volumetric IoT botnets rewrite enterprise resilience rules
Source: Internet of Things NewsDecember 4, 2025
Hyper-volumetric botnets built from compromised IoT devices are now a major operational risk for enterprises, according to Cloudflare data from the third quarter of 2025. Attackers are using large numbers of insecure connected devices to drive distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) campaigns to new scales, overwhelming traditional defences.
Cloudflare reports that the volume and speed of these attacks make manual response and on‑premise mitigation hardware effectively outdated. The threat environment is no longer defined by routine DDoS activity but by automated, high‑volume assaults that demand new approaches to resilience, including cloud-based protection, continuous monitoring, and tighter control over IoT device security.
