Global consumer tech market forecast flat in 2026 on Chinese slowdown
The global market for consumer technology and durable goods is expected to stagnate in 2026, with sales forecast at about USD 1.3 trillion, down 0.4 percent in dollar terms. Research cited by Telecompaper links the weak outlook mainly to slower demand in China, a key growth engine in recent years. Other regions are not expected to offset that drag, leaving overall volumes and revenues largely flat.
Manufacturers and retailers face a market where many households already own recent devices and are delaying upgrades, while economic uncertainty weighs on discretionary spending. The forecast suggests companies will have to compete harder for replacement purchases rather than rely on broad market expansion, especially in smartphones, TVs and other big-ticket electronics.
