Fiber growth steadies telecom revenues in Japan
Japan’s telecom revenues are holding steady as growth in fiber broadband makes up for falling traditional voice income, according to GlobalData analysis shared with RCR Wireless News. Fixed broadband revenue is rising at about 1.3% a year, which helps balance a 1.8% annual decline in voice services.
GlobalData expects this trend to continue as operators upgrade networks, push higher-priced high-speed fiber plans, and phase out old copper lines. Even in a market with already high fiber penetration, incremental upgrades and customer migration to premium tiers are set to support overall revenue stability.
